Applications

The side-channel pump has the advantage of operating more economically than single stage  volute centrifugal pumps applied for low capacity and high heads. The side channel pumps are appropriate for service in the chemical and petrochemical process. The SCM-pump is a heavy-duty unit for handling clean pumpage without solids. Sealless magnetic driven pumps are designed to operate with out leakage to improve plant's and personnel safety, especially when handling toxic, explosive or other dangerous liquids that react on contact with the atmosphere.  A static containment shell replaces double or single mechanical seals.

Construction

In order to achieve low NPSH-value, an end suction design with an end suction centrifugal impeller is standard. The solution is then sent to a series of side channel impellers that add higher pressure to each progressive stage.  These side channel impellers also provide the self-priming benefit. The pump shaft is driven via a permanent-magnetic coupling. The pumpage is hermetically sealed to the atmosphere by the shroud (containment shell) - no shaft sealing is required.  Cross section drawing
